Hoosier Hospitality

It’s hard to miss the madness of the Sex and the City movie…I’ll admit, I’ve seen the film twice and it just came out less than a month ago. Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha reunite on the big screen allowing us “gal pals” to congregate for a joyous 2+ hours of laughter, tears and suspense.

Inspired by the film’s female bonding scenes, I decided to road-trip to my friend Jill’s family’s cottage on Sweetwater Lake. Gwyn, Meg, Jill, Kara and I indulged in girly magazines, Mojitos, home made cherry pie and daily sun bathing.

The opportunity to spend one last weekend with some of my favorite friends proved to be an awesome “girls only” getaway. Meanwhile, Matt took a similar opportunity and hopped a flight to Jacksonville, FL to visit Cada.

Sweetwater Lake is a fresh, private lake built for power boats and pontoons (no larger than 19.5 feet). It’s very different than the lakes in Michigan but the wakeboarding is just as sweet!

With Bloomington only 31 miles away from Jill’s place, Meg and I ventured to B-town to catch the infamous Cycling Grand Prix (Crit).

Meg, Renee and I drank Upland beer at Kilroy’s while watching the cyclists race around Indiana Ave, Kirkwood and the surrounding streets.

This past weekend proved once again why I love the care-free spirit of my friends (near and far)…we like to call our easy-going nature, “Hoosier hospitality.” It goes without saying that Matt and I will be keeping all of our amazing friends and family in our thoughts and prayers while we are abroad.

“As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.” Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City.

I’m excited to “keep going” – we depart for New Zealand in 17 days…

  1. Liz, I’ll be counting the days until we can do a girls road trip again NEXT summer! Anytime you need a wakeboarding spotter, I will be there with my red flag. 🙂

  2. I had a fantastic time this weekend. Every moment I’ve spent with you (and Matt) over the last few months has been bittersweet. I’m so excited you are headed to New Zealand and so sad you are leaving. I’ll try not to cry too much over the next few weeks. I can’t promise anything though.

    You are amazing!

  3. Liz!
Welcome to the blogging world and I can’t wait to keep up with your adventures. I think of you when I am in your building to drop off billing at Steak N Shake. I see your name etched on the door and think, “That chick is going places!” Take care!
